Water meter well
What is a water meter well?
A water meter well is a buried well that contains:
- The water meter
Shut-off valves
Meter console
Frost protection
Connections for incoming and outgoing water
It gives the municipality easy access to read, replace and service the water meter without having to enter the property.
Why use a water meter well?
A well is used instead of being placed inside the house when:
The house does not have a basement
– The meter must be frost-free, which is difficult in flat ground.
The service line is far from the house
– If the water line runs in the street far from the house, a well is better.
The property must be accessible to the municipality
– Meter replacement or reading is done without going into the owner’s house.
