Aquatron 4×75

A new feature is slightly different dimensions and a lid prepared so that the separator can be placed in three different positions for easier installation and improved performance.

Aquatron is the ecological system that provides fresh and simple composting. It offers comfort and hygiene for those who still want to use an ordinary flush toilet.

Our system is suitable for everything from small holiday cottages to public buildings. It has been well proven and appreciated for over 30 years.
Separate feces and flush water at the source (WC). Reuse!

The water is flushed into a separator (with no moving parts or energy consumption), where urine and flush water are separated from feces and paper. It is then directed to a greywater/sludge separator (for Bath, Dish, Laundry) for infiltration into the ground.
The infiltration system must be sized for toilet water.
The solid waste is composted in a biochamber.

Aquatron 4×75 and Design Details

Aquatron 4×75 has internal compost containers divided into four sections of approximately 75 liters each. The inner, sectioned container rotates like a carousel.

Size Aquatron 4×75

  • Biochamber height: 440 mm

  • Biochamber height incl. central pipe: 540 mm

  • Water level height with separator: 860 mm

  • Total height with separator: 965 mm

  • Outer diameter: 1200 mm

  • Weight: 50 kg

  • Volume of each compartment: approx. 75 liters

Aquatron 4×75 is suitable for holiday homes (approx. 5 people) and small households (1–2 people for permanent living).
The compost container is rotated 90 degrees clockwise every 3–4 months. One full turn thus takes 12–16 months.
The interval for rotation and possible emptying depends on the load, the temperature of the room where the biochamber is installed, and whether compost worms are used or not.

When the previously filled composting compartments are rotated into the emptying position, the waste is fully composted and converted into about 10 liters of humus.
You can then choose to empty it or let the compost container complete another full rotation before emptying. The fully composted humus is an excellent soil improver.

The main advantage of Aquatron 4×100 compared with Aquatron 90 and 2×50 is the full composting process, which makes handling easier and more convenient.

Purification Effects with the Aquatron System

Using the Aquatron system reduces the load on subsequent treatment stages — such as the sludge separator and infiltration — because the feces are removed within the Aquatron unit.

When the feces are removed, the following reductions occur (according to HVMFS 2016:17):

  • 25% of phosphorus

  • 11% of nitrogen

  • 31% of BOD₇

Using the Aquatron system increases the reduction of all these values and can theoretically achieve almost high environmental protection standards (90% phosphorus reduction).

Based on theoretical calculations from the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management’s general advice on small wastewater facilities, the system achieves an 82% phosphorus reduction.
Normal requirements are 70%, and high requirements are 90%.

This means you can almost meet the high phosphorus requirement without expensive or complicated phosphorus precipitation technology.

If you wish to increase phosphorus reduction further, you can complement the system with the Aquatron phosphorus trap or chemical precipitation in the sludge separator.

Other Advantages of Aquatron

  • No transportation needed for sludge handling

  • Source-separates wastewater

  • Does not burden municipal treatment plants

  • Returns nutrients to a local ecological cycle

  • Reduces costs

  • Decreases phosphorus and nitrogen load on infiltration, increasing its lifespan

  • Wastewater can be reused for irrigation after UV treatment

  • Normally requires no energy and has no moving parts

What Happens to the Water After the Aquatron System?

The Aquatron system is unique because it allows you to use flush toilets and easily reuse the flushed water.
There are many alternatives and solutions used worldwide.

The most common method is to let the water after the Aquatron go to a sludge separator where it mixes with greywater from the house, allowing the water to be used in various ways:

  • Infiltration into the ground (dimensioned for WC water)

  • Directed to a treatment plant for simple sludge handling

  • Reused as flushing water for toilets (Aquatron UV is often used to remove bacteria)

  • Used as fertilizing irrigation water for plants (add Aquatron UV to remove bacteria)

  • Used in a purification pond with plants

  • Directed to a larger shared facility

If urine-diverting toilets are used with Aquatron, you can use the urine directly to produce your own natural fertilizer.
