Matala Biofilter 20 is suitable where you have low water consumption on
max 750 l/day and 125 l/hour.
Matala biofilters 20 and 25 do not need a holding tank to handle hot water, as there is always enough water in the filter to equalize the temperature.
It is suitable if the filter is to stand freely on the ground or be dug down to
a shallower depth. It is not possible to add an extension neck to Biofilter 20.
It is easy to build an insulated box around the filter if it is to be placed above ground.

Matala gray water filter/BDT (bath, dish & wash) is the original and manufacturer of the patented filter discs and has sold thousands over the past 15 years.
- No consumption costs
- No electricity consumption
- No moving parts
Matala gray water filters are adapted for smaller amounts of BDT wastewater such as in small houses, holiday homes, sauna houses, construction sheds, etc. where you do not have toilet water connected.
All types of gray water filters cannot handle high flows that you may have in year-round houses with high water consumption, then choose other technology.
The capacity is from 400 to 750 liters/day, depending on the model and accessories.
Biofilter 10 has a capacity of 400 l/day or 55 l/hour and Biofilter 20 & 25 can handle 750 l/day and 125 l/hour.
Function
The function is completely natural in that the water is purified when it slowly flows through the patented filters that break down biological nutrients with Biofilm Technology with microbes.
As the filters are airy in the biofilter and the water varies in level all the time, no air compressor is needed for oxygenation of the bio skin.
There is always a little water at the bottom of the biofilter so that the bio skin always has a good environment even during breaks in the load.
Installation
Matala Biofilter is available in three different models to suit different needs and conditions. Choose model 10, 20 or 25.
If you are only going to use the cabin during the warm season, you can place the biofilter completely uninsulated on the ground.
The biofilters can withstand freezing completely without damage, however, the purification does not work if the filter is frozen.
Biofilter 25 is very good if the location is in the ground and you want it frost-free. If you have the pipes in the ground, choose this filter.
For problems with heights (self-fall), the filters are available with a built-in pump that pumps away purified water after the filter.
Biofilters can normally handle hot flushing water as it has time to cool on its way to the filter and once there, the hot water is mixed with the water that always remains in the filter.
Ask us for advice on how to install biofilters for good purification and carefree ownership as every property is unique.
Maintenance:
Filter elements are removed and cleaned once a year by shaking them out over a compost.
Do not use any detergent as it kills the microbes that do the cleaning naturally in the filter.
No maintenance or consumption costs
Degree of purification
Matala is the original gray water filter and has by far the largest amount of filter material in its products on the market.
It is tested under real conditions with very good results.
There is no EU standard how to test gray water filters so CE marking cannot be done on BDT treatment products.
We recommend that you always add a smaller post-purification type HS infiltration after all types of gray water filters as final treatment and to infiltrate the water into the ground.
Now there is a real test on the degree of purification!
Can be ordered without drilled inlets and outlets for special installations with pump etc.
