Polar pipe is a water pipe with a self-regulating heating cable that prevents the water from freezing to minus 30 above ground. It eliminates the requirement to get down to frost-free depths, you can lay the pipe directly on snow or ice if you wish.
The polar tube is often the cheapest installation when compared to other existing frost protection solutions.
Normal energy consumption is about 15w/meter at minus 10 degrees.
For further energy efficiency, thermostat control is also recommended. By connecting a thermostat, you get a system that
does not emit heat or draw energy until the temperature outside has fallen below the temperature set in the thermostat.
Alternatively, you can let the pipe freeze when not in use. You then turn on the power if necessary. The time to defrost the system is about 30 minutes.

Single pipe has blue stripes as standard. For double pipe, the pipe with the smallest dimension has blue stripes, and the pipe with the largest dimension has brown stripes as standard.
The maximum length is 150m for the heating cable, i.e. if you want 500m Polar tubes, you need an electrical supply every 150 meters.
Insulation: The pipe is insulated with high quality closed cell flexible insulation. The base material of the insulation is PE and has the same environmental properties as the rest of the pipe. The lambda value of the insulation is W/mK = 0.043 and since the cells of the insulation are closed, the insulation maintains its insulation value without risk of water absorption.
Heating cable: Self-limiting heating cable from Raychem.
Nominal output (W/m at 10 °C) 15 W/m.

Outer jacket: The outer jacket is also produced in PE (polyethylene), but with a lower density, which makes the jacket more flexible.
