Electrofusion fittings

Electrofusion fittings are used when you need an extremely strong, tight and long-lasting joint on PE pipes, especially in water and wastewater systems. Inside an electrofusion coupling there are heating wires. When an electrofusion control unit is connected, the wires heat up and melt both the fitting and the pipe ends so they fuse together. The result is a homogeneous weld that is almost as strong as the pipe itself.

Electrofusion fittings are used where high safety is required, such as on pressurised water mains, service lines, gas pipes, in the ground where access is limited, or in places where a standard compression fitting could loosen due to vibration or ground movement. Compared to compression fittings, electrofusion provides a more reliable and permanent joint, requires no retightening and is not affected by temperature changes.

Electrofusion is also suitable for large pipe dimensions, for wet excavation conditions, and for any installation where a permanent, high-pressure-rated connection is needed. It is approved by most utilities for main pipelines because it creates a fully welded, leak-free joint without gaskets that can age or deteriorate.

In summary: electrofusion fittings are used to create a fully sealed, strong and permanent joint on PE pipes, especially in critical water and sewer pipelines where reliability is essential.
