Compensation sleeve / support sleeve

Support sleeves are selected based on the pipe dimension, the PN pressure class and the color code. The color indicates which inner diameter the sleeve is designed for.

Blue support sleeves are used for thin-walled PE pipes, usually PN6 and PN8. These pipes have a larger inner diameter and therefore need a thicker sleeve that fills the space.

Red support sleeves are used for standard-wall pipes such as PN10 and PN12.5. This is the most common sleeve type for PE80 pipes.

Black support sleeves, or a narrow red variant, are used for thick-walled pipes, usually PN16 and PE100. These pipes have a smaller inner diameter, so the sleeve must be narrower to fit correctly.

Dimension 20 mm
PN6–PN8: thin-walled → blue sleeve
PN10–PN12.5: standard wall → red sleeve
PN16: thick-walled → black or narrow red sleeve

Dimension 25 mm
PN6–PN8: blue sleeve
PN10–PN12.5: red sleeve
PN16: black or narrow red sleeve

Dimension 32 mm
PN6–PN8: blue sleeve
PN10–PN12.5: red sleeve
PN16: black or narrow red sleeve

Dimension 40 mm
PN6–PN8: blue sleeve
PN10–PN12.5: red sleeve
PN16: black sleeve

Dimension 50 mm
PN6–PN8: blue sleeve
PN10–PN12.5: red sleeve
PN16: black sleeve

Dimension 63 mm
PN6–PN8: blue sleeve
PN10–PN12.5: red sleeve
PN16: black sleeve (often a longer version for extra stability)

Simplified rule:
Blue sleeve = thin-walled pipe (PN6–PN8)
Red sleeve = standard wall (PN10–PN12.5)
Black sleeve = thick-walled pipe (PN16/PE100)
