Fosformassa Polonite

Polonite is a natural, processed mineral – a calcium silicate – that has very good properties to bind phosphorus in both wastewater and runoff water from agricultural land, while allowing the return of the vital nutrient to agriculture.
In addition, the filter contains calcium and silicon, which also need to be supplied to both soil and plants. The good idea of Polonite and phosphoric acid is to return it to nature as fertilizer. Unfortunately, this does not work in practice; almost nowhere in Sweden is the nutrient returned; instead, it is buried as landfill on the dump.

The saturated filter is classified as a household waste and is therefore a municipal responsibility. Many municipalities take care of the entire exchange through their own waste management provider. Contact the waste management department of your municipality and see what they offer.

Polonite is only available from a couple of manufacturers and sometimes there have been very long delivery times. Polonite bags normally weigh 500 kg and you often have to solve the replacement yourself, the replacement interval is about two years.
